Pundit hints at ‘problems behind the scenes’ with Spurs star after recent comments

Paul Robinson has suggested there are ‘problems behind the scenes’ with Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tanguy Ndombele.

The claim comes after teammate Hugo Lloris told the Evening Standard that Ndombele should be taking on more responsibility in the Tottenham dressing room in order to become an important player in the side.

Ndombele, 24, has endured a tough stint in North London since joining Spurs in 2019 and is still seemingly finding his feet in what is his third season at the club.

It has been a mixed start to the campaign for the midfielder after being left out of Spurs’ opening handful of fixtures – but he has since played his way back into Nuno Espirito Santo’s starting line-up.

Lloris’ recent comments have led former Tottenham goalkeeper Robinson to believe that Ndombele is still going through a rough patch, and hints there could be lingering problems off the field that are affecting his performance in the team.

Speaking to Football Insider, he said: “Ndombele is the record signing. He’s back in the team but there are clearly still problems behind the scenes because his captain has come out and said he needs to take more responsibility.

“It could be on the field or off it, we know he has had problems with different managers.

“I’m not privy to what goes on but from the outside looking in, it doesn’t look like his attitude is 100 per cent. That can creep into your game and lead to errors and let’s be honest, he’s got an error in him.

“If you are not right off the field you and not going to play to the best of your ability every weekend. That looks like the problem to me.”

We don’t know if there is anything affecting him away from football, but you feel as if it will have to all come together soon for the transfer to pay dividends.
