Simon Jordan has said that Tottenham Hotspur are not good enough to compete for the title and added Antonio Conte’s men cannot even contend with Liverpool if the Reds start playing at their best this season.

Spurs have made a strong start to the season, having picked up a total of 17 points from their first seven matches of the season. They sit just one point behind league leaders Arsenal and level on points with Manchester City.

To many people’s surprise, Liverpool have made the worst start of any of the ‘big six’ clubs, with Jurgen Klopp’s men currently languishing in 8th place – eight points behind Spurs.

Despite the start that Tottenham have made to the season, Jordan insisted that the Lilywhites do not have the required quality to sustain a title challenge this season.

However, he did state that he expects Antonio Conte to end the club’s trophy drought by leading them to the League Cup of the FA Cup.

Jordon told talkSPORT: “No (they can’t win the league). No (they can’t contend to win the league). Because they’re not good enough.

“If Liverpool get their boots on they won’t be good enough to contend with them, and Liverpool aren’t good enough to contend with Man City.

“So Tottenham and Arsenal will be down the pecking order. It’s a case of being realistic. There’s no point in building a narrative.

“I do expect Tottenham to win something with Conte. It won’t be a league or a Champions League, but I think it might be a League Cup or an FA Cup.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not think a title challenge is a realistic objective for Spurs as I expect Manchester City to get over 90 points once again this season and potentially win the title by 10 or 15 points.

However, Liverpool do look a mess this season, and so there is no reason to think that we cannot finish above them.

Having said that, another top-four finish and a trophy would be a brilliant campaign for Spurs and would give us something to build on ahead of next season.
