Pundit jokes that Levy will be worried about Spurs star asking for new contract

Stan Collymore has joked that Daniel Levy might be worried that Richarlison will ask for a pay rise after starring for Brazil in their 2-0 win over Serbia.

Richardson netted both of Brazil’s goals on Thursday, with his second one being the goal of the tournament so far as the Tottenham man’s audacious bicycle kick nestled into the corner of the net.

The 25-year-old could not have dreamed of a better World Cup debut and has been widely praised by the Brazilian press, with Correio Braziliense even suggesting that he ‘honoured’ predecessors like Ronaldo Nazario with his display.

Richarlison has not quite hit the ground running at Spurs since his big-money summer switch, having found the back of the net just twice in what has been an injury-hit season so far for the forward (Transfermarkt).

Collymore has joked that Levy will now fear that the former Everton man will demand a new contract after his World Cup heroics.

The former Liverpool striker wrote on Twitter after Richarlison’s brace: “Daniel Levy thinking ‘f**k, he’ll want a new contract now’.”

Perhaps this tweet sounded funny in Collymore’s head before he tweeted it. Richarlison’s future will be the last concern in Levy’s mind at the moment, given that the Brazilian just signed a long-term contract when he arrived in the summer.
