Pundit labels Spurs player as the ‘one of the worst signings in PL history’

Gabby Agbonlahor has not minced his words while describing Richardson’s first season at Tottenham, naming the forward as the captain of his ‘flop 11 of the season’.

Needless to say, Richarlison has not justified his £60m price tag in his first season in North London, with the Brazilian finding the back of the net just three times across all competitions (Transfermarkt).

However, the forward has certainly not been helped by circumstances, having suffered multiple injuries over the course of the campaign which hampered his opportunity to get a run of consecutive starts under his belt.

Richarlison has also often been used on the right of a front three, which is by no means his favourite position and has had a couple of goals ruled out this season for marginal offside calls.

The 26-year-old took to social media this week to admit that the 2022-23 campaign has been an extremely frustrating one for him and vowed to come back stronger next season.

While picking his flops 11 of the season, Agbonlahor has now told talkSPORT: “My captain is Richarlison, probably one of the worst signings in Premier League history, 27 appearances, one goal.”

The former Aston Villa striker also named Davinson Sanchez in his team, saying about the Colombian: “Every game I’ve watched him, he’s had a mistake. I’ve been in here with Jamie O’Hara and he’s nearly crying real tears of how bad Sanchez has been. Mistake.com.”

Richarlison has not had anywhere near as bad a season as his goals numbers suggest. I have no doubt that the 26-year-old will prove his worth next season.

It is also unfair on Sanchez to name him in the eleven, considering that he has only started a handful of matches all campaign.
