Pundit makes ‘100 per cent’ claim about Spurs and West Ham after 1-0 result

Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed that he is ‘100 per cent’ sure West Ham United will finish above Tottenham Hotspur this season after watching the Hammers beat Spurs on Sunday.

The London derby on Sunday was quite a tight affair, with the home side defending deep with men behind the ball and hitting Nuno Espirito Santo’s men on the counter-attack.

Tottenham had a few opportunities to take the lead in the first half but their decision making in the final third let them down.

David Moyes’ side eventually broke through after the interval, with Michail Antonio turning in a corner to give his side all three points.

The win took West Ham into fourth place in the table, two points and places about Spurs.

Agbonlahor insisted that he cannot see the Hammers finishing outside of the top six and backed them to finish above the Lilywhites for the second season in a row.

The former Aston Villa striker told Football Insider: “I feel like they’ll definitely finish in the top six.

“They remind of the Aston Villa team I played in under Martin O’Neill for two or three seasons, they’re similar to that team.

“Fighting for the top-four, just missing out but getting into Europe and playing in the Uefa Cup as it was then, Europa League now.

“They’re a dangerous side. As long as they can keep this side together, the likes of Michail Antonio and Declan Rice are vital to the team, they’ll definitely be in and around the top-six this season.

“They’ll definitely be ahead of the likes of Spurs, Arsenal and Everton, 100 per cent.”

Spurs Web Opinion

While Tottenham were poor on Sunday, especially in the second half, I did not think West Ham were much better. The result would have been different had we managed to break the deadlock before the interval. There was nothing between the two sides and I expect neither of them to challenge for the top four this season.
