Pundit predicts exactly where Spurs could finish in the PL if they sell Harry Kane

Gabby Agbonlahor believes that Tottenham Hotspur could finish in the bottom half of the Premier League table for the first time since 2008 if they decide to cash in on Harry Kane this summer.

With Harry Kane set to enter the final year of his contract this summer and with no indications at the moment that a new deal is just around the corner, the topic of the striker’s future looks set to dominate the headlines for the coming weeks and months.

Fabrizio Romano told GiveMeSport earlier this week that Tottenham remain determined to hold on to their talisman this summer and are not considering listening to any offers.

However, the North London club would have a decision to make if the England captain refuses to sign a new contract and they receive a sizeable bid.

Agbonlahor believes selling Kane could prove costly for Spurs as it would be next to impossible for the Lilywhites to replace the 29-year-old this summer.

The former Aston Villa striker told Football Insider: “Spurs without Harry Kane could be 10th or 11th next season.

“They might think they can’t afford to turn down £70-80m and lose him on a free transfer next year.

“However, could he be the difference in getting top four next season and making the club money? Honestly, it’s a 50:50 decision for Levy and Joe Lewis.

“You can’t let him go for free, but there’s Richarlison behind him who can’t hit a barn door. Who can you get in to replace him?

“If you go and spend £60m again – it could be another flop like Richarlison. Because Spurs are so over-reliant on Kane, they’re going to really feel the consequences when he goes.”

Spurs Web Opinion

It is far from certain at the moment that Kane would leave this summer.

However, even if he does, I do not think it is guaranteed that we would struggle over the coming years.

Tottenham have improved as a team despite losing world-class players like Berbatov, Bale and Modric in the past and the same can be true if Kane departs.
