Pundit predicts Spurs will miss out on top four finish despite unbeaten start

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has predicted that Tottenham will not finish in the top four this season.

Tottenham are one of just two unbeaten teams in the Premier League this season along with Manchester City.

Although Antonio Conte’s men have not been at their fluent best in the majority of their six games this season, they have shown plenty of fight and have continued to pick up results.

Spurs’ win over Fulham on Sunday was arguably their best display of the season, barring the opening day win over Southampton.

The North Londoners’ squad depth was on show as Conte made five changes to the side that featured against West Ham in midweek, and their win over the Cottagers saw the Lilywhites climb to just a point behind rivals Arsenal, who currently occupy the top spot.

The Gunners failed in their first big test of the season on Sunday as they were turned over 3-1 by Manchester United at Old Trafford.

After the game, when asked to predict who will finish in the top four, Hasselbaink told Sky Sports: “I think United will find a way of playing, they can’t keep on playing the way they are playing [today] the whole season.

“They need to improve. But I think that they will get above Arsenal. I think Chelsea will get in the top four, with Man United, [Manchester] City and Liverpool. Tottenham don’t.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I believe we will have a better idea of where different teams stand once everyone has played 10 or 12 games. It is still too early in the season to make confident predictions.

One thing that does count in Spurs’ favour is the fact that we look much more defensively solid than Chelsea, United and Arsenal, who have all conceded three or four goals in different matches.
