Pundit predicts where Spurs will finish in ‘most exciting’ top-four race ‘in years’

Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed that this season’s Premier League top-four race is the ‘’most exciting in years’ and believes Tottenham will do enough pip their rivals to the final Champions League spot.

Just four points separate Arsenal, West Ham, Spurs and Manchester United from fourth down to seventh, but the distance could be reduced by the Red Devils when they face Wolves on Monday night.

The Gunners dropped points in the second half stoppage-time against Manchester City this weekend, while Spurs did the opposite by claiming all three points in the final moments at Watford.

Meanwhile, West Ham fought off a late Crystal Palace fight-back to win a thrilling 3-2 encounter at Selhurst Park.

Former Aston Villa striker Agbonlahor believes Man City’s dominance in the title race has created a lack of excitement, while the top four race is where the action is.

He told talkSPORT: “Arsenal dropping points, Spurs and West Ham winning. This is going to be the most exciting race we’ve had for top four in years.

“Man City will win the title quite comfortably, but the top four race is what I’m excited to watch this season.

“I’m so excited for this top-four race. West Ham aren’t going anywhere. Arsenal are looking like a proper team now, Spurs are as well.

“Manchester United can’t play any worse, so they are going to be fighting for that top-four place as well.”

Spurs, despite having a tough opening quarter of the campaign, have since managed to pull themselves back into European contention following the appointment of Antonio Conte.

The Italian recently became the first Spurs manager to go unbeaten in his first seven games in charge and extended his record to five wins and three draws in the Premier League with a 1-0 win against Watford.

But Conte changing Spurs’ fortunes in recent weeks has led Agbonlahor to believe they have the best chance of securing the final Champions League place.

He added: “I think the reason why Spurs are the favourites is because of the manager. They’ve got the best manager out of the other teams trying to get into the top four – West Ham, Manchester United, Arsenal.

“He’s proven. Look what he’s done with Inter Milan, Chelsea, but especially with Inter Milan last season. To win the Scudetto when Juventus had been on top for nine years winning it.

“Him at that club now, he will be the reason they are my favourites for top four.”

The top four race seems to get tighter every season and this campaign is no different. Spurs have somehow managed to get their way back into contention and that is thanks to Conte, and he will give the club such a good chance of claiming the last Champions League place.
