Pundit reveals he has changed his mind about who will win the top-four race

Dean Saunders believes Tottenham will finish in the top four this season and claims they changed his mind with their performance in the win over West Ham.

Spurs secured an important 3-1 win on Sunday to keep them firmly in the race for Champions League football next season.

Victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium moved Antonio Conte’s side within three points of Arsenal who occupy fourth-place, but the Gunners have crucially played one game less.

Spurs were dominant against a leggy Hammers side with Heung-min Son tallying twice and Harry Kane playing a vital role in all three goals.

And the display impressed Saunders, who has now reversed his previous prediction that Arsenal will claim a spot in the top four as he believes Spurs have enough quality to leapfrog their North London counterparts.

He told talkSPORT: “Do you know what, the way they played [on Sunday] changed my mind. I just thought the way that they moved the ball [was superb].

“Spurs have got the best manager, for me. After I watched that game, and the way Son and Kane are playing at the moment, I would say Spurs [will get top four ahead of Arsenal and Manchester United].”

Tottenham will look to make it three Premier League wins in a row when they welcome a renewed Newcastle to N17 after the international break.

Spurs Web Opinion

Currently, a place in the top four is in Arsenal’s hands as they possess that extra game in hand over Spurs. But we have seen that spare games do not necessarily mean points on the board.

Spurs also have a slightly kinder list of fixtures too, so really all they can do is keep winning until the end of the season to make sure they remain in the chase in case of any slip ups.
