Pundit reveals how many points he thinks Spurs can make up on Man City next season

Darren Ambrose believes that Tottenham Hotspur can considerably narrow the gap with Manchester City next season if they make the right kind of signings this summer.

After Spurs secured Champions League qualification with a 5-0 demolition of Norwich on Sunday, Conte admitted he would like to fight to win trophies next season, adding that the club needs reinforcements this summer with the incoming five sub rule (Football.London).

According to Alasdair Gold, Tottenham are planning to back Antonio Conte fully in the transfer market this summer to ensure the Italian’s ambitions can be achieved at the club.

Ambrose believes Spurs are only a few top-quality additions away from closing the gap with Pep Guardiola’s men.

The former Crystal Palace midfielder insisted that the North Londoners were unlucky not to finish above Chelsea this season and backed the club to go within eight to ten points of City if they make the right additions.

Spurs finished 22 points behind Man City this season, meaning Ambrose thinks the Lilywhites could narrow the gap by at least 12-14 points.

Spurs Web Opinion

If Spurs make four decent additions this summer, we will be considered favourites to finish in third place next season. However, the jury is out on whether we can challenge Liverpool and City, who are both regularly getting more than 90 points these days.

The way we are set up under Conte means that we find it a tad difficult to break down sides who defend with a low block. So, I do not think we will win as many games as Liverpool or City. Finishing in third place and winning a cup would be a brilliant season for us.
