Pundit reveals how much money Conte will want to improve Spurs this summer

Danny Mills has claimed Antonio Conte will want as much as £300 million to spend in order to improve Tottenham in the transfer window this summer.

Conte has been vocal in his desires to reshape Spurs throughout his tenure with the club currently only on the periphery of the Premier League top four (Football.London).

Tottenham were active in the January market to strengthen their options, bringing in Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur from Juventus on deadline day.

The pair have looked impressive in North London so far, but both started for Spurs in the 1-0 defeat to Burnley on Wednesday, which compounded the side to a fourth league defeat in five games.

Mills believes Kulusevski and Bentancur have the ability to keep growing for Spurs, but feels Conte has not been given enough by those above him to fully improve the outlook of the club yet.

He told Football Insider: “Kulusevski is quite young, and so is Bentancur. There’s massive potential there but also a lot of room for improvement, they’ve done okay since joining.

“The Premier League is a completely different animal to what they’re used to, but they’ve clearly got quality.

“These players will take time to bed in. But has there been a noticeable improvement since those players and Antonio Conte has come in – like the one we saw at Chelsea, Juventus, or Inter? Not really.

“He’s probably thinking he needs about £300 million to spend in the summer, or what’s the point? He knows they’re not going to be anywhere near it without that sort of money.”

Spurs were active in January but maybe not as much as they should have been, despite it being a tough time to sign players.

There are still areas that Spurs need to improve this coming summer and that is the time to show Conte just how serious they are in terms of wanting to strengthen.
