Pundit reveals when he expects Nuno Espirito Santo to be sacked by Spurs

Former Premier League goalkeeper, Paddy Kenny has revealed that he expects Tottenham to sack Nuno Espirito Santo at the end of the 2021/22 season.

Tottenham are currently eighth in the Premier League table, but are only two points off the top four and four points off league leaders Chelsea.

The Athletic recently revealed that Nuno, who is on a short-term contract in North London, would not receive any compensation if Tottenham sack him following a failure to finish in the top six.

The Portuguese head coach has only been in the job a matter of months after replacing Jose Mourinho at the helm in N17, but pressure began to mount after three consecutive Premier League defeats to Crystal Palace, Chelsea and Arsenal.

Kenny has argued that Nuno will struggle to keep his job if Tottenham finish outside the top six, before adding that he would be surprised if Spurs finished that high in the table.

He said (Football Insider): “A lot of teams get stung by giving managers long contracts.

“Managers come and go inside 12 months these days and then you have to pay them off. So it’s good from Spurs’ point of view.

“Maybe Nuno is confident they are going to finish inside the top six anyway.

“But I’m sure Nuno will be struggling for his job if they don’t finish in the top six.

“I’d be surprised if they do manage to make that top six based on what we’ve seen this season.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

Anything below the top six this season would likely result in Nuno being sacked, in my opinion. That clause is there for a reason because that is the minimum growth Daniel Levy wants to see. If any attractive managers are available, Spurs could cut and run.
