Pundit reveals why he expects Tottenham’s Son to beat Salah to Golden Boot

Gabby Agbonlahor has revealed that he expects Son Heung-min to beat Mohamed Salah to the Premier League Golden Boot.

Son is having his most productive season in front of goal since moving to the Premier League in 2015, having amassed 21 goals and nine assists in the league so far this campaign (Transfermarkt).

The South Korean took home Tottenham’s Supporters Club, One Hotspur and Junior One Hotspur Player of the Season awards after the Lilywhites’ 1-0 win over Burnley.

Gary Neville even named the 29-year-old as his Player of the Season across the Premier League in this week’s edition of Sky Sports Monday Night Football.

Son is just one goal behind Salah in the race for the Golden Boot (Premierleague.com) heading into Tottenham’s final game of the season against Norwich, with Antonio Conte’s men needing a point to seal a fourth-place finish.

Agbonlahor believes that Salah will be rested by Jurgen Klopp for Liverpool’s clash against Wolves and that the Tottenham man will pass the Egyptian in the final game of the season.

When asked who he thinks will win the Golden Boot, the former Aston Villa striker told talkSPORT Breakfast: “I think Son, because I don’t think Salah will play.

“With his groin injury, I think Klopp will say to him, ‘I don’t care about the Golden Boot. I care about getting three points and you being fit for the Champions League final’.

“With Son, they’re playing Norwich away, a lovely, nice last game of the season – I see Son and Spurs hitting three, four or five past Norwich.”

Son missed a couple of golden chances against Arsenal and Norwich, which one would have expected the South Korean to put away.

While the 29-year-old’s focus will be on helping Spurs seal Champions League qualification, it will most certainly shift to the Golden Boot race if we are leading comfortably at half-time at Carrow Road.
