Pundit suggests how much it would cost for Man Utd to buy Harry Kane

Dean Saunders has insisted that Harry Kane is exactly the kind of centre-forward that Manchester United need and urged the Red Devils to break the bank for the Tottenham striker.

While Erling Haaland has stolen the limelight with his brilliant start to his Manchester City career, Kane is quietly also having an outstanding campaign, with the striker having scored 13 times in 16 Premier League games so far this season (Transfermarkt).

The 29-year-old’s current contract has just 18 months left to run, which is why his future has become the subject of speculation over recent months.

Journalist Raphael Honigstein revealed this week on The Athletic’s Bundesliga mailbag that Bayern Munich have spoken to Kane’s entourage regarding a move to the Allianz Arena next summer.

However, CBS journalist Ben Jacobs said on the Spurs Chat Podcast last week that Tottenham are ‘calm’ about the situation as the England captain does not have the desire to go elsewhere.

Saunders insisted that Kane would be worth spending big on for Man Utd as the striker guarantees goals every season.

The former Aston Villa striker said on talkSPORT: “Just the focal point down the middle [United need] and someone who can get on the end of crosses and – there’s an example – they need Erling Haaland.

“Somebody like Harry Kane, Haaland. Look at Harry Kane’s header [vs Brentford], he has missed a penalty at the World Cup, you put balls in the box for Harry Kane he will get 20 goals a season every season.

“If you pay £150m for Harry Kane, there is a fair chance that he will get you 20 goals. Because he does it every year, consistently. Brilliant header, he just knows what to do. You can’t teach people to do that, I have tried, you can’t.”

I do not think a move to Man Utd would particularly appeal to Kane as the striker’s chances of winning major trophies would not improve significantly at Old Trafford compared to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. I see the striker putting pen to paper on a new contract as long as Conte also commits himself to the club.
