Pundit suggests that Dele Alli should move to Aston Villa to kickstart his form again

Chris Sutton has claimed that Dele Alli has to prove himself all over again as his future at Spurs has been cast into doubt.

The midfielder was left out of Tottenham’s matchday squad against Lokomotiv Plovdiv and Southampton, with reports suggesting that he had been offered by Spurs to clubs around Europe.

The England international has been linked with a loan move to Paris Saint-Germain (Telegraph) but Jose Mourinho admitted on Wednesday that he expects Alli to still be at Spurs when the transfer window closes (Football.London).

Sutton believes that Alli needs to take a step down to a club like Aston Villa and get regular game time under his belt.

The former Celtic striker opined that the 24-year-old’s drop in form had to do with issues with his attitude. Listen to what Sutton told about the Spurs midfielder to BBC Radio Five Live:

Spurs Web Opinion

Alli has certainly not lived up the high standards he has set for himself over the last two years. However, a lot of pundits and fans are forgetting how good he actually was from 2015-2018. Suggestions that he has only had one good season are wide off the mark. In fact, he has even had some decent patches of form over the last two years. It is just consistency he is struggling with. I certainly would not put it beyond him to win his place back in the starting eleven.
