Pundit thinks 23-year-old Spurs playmaker could become as good as Kevin De Bruyne

Leroy Rosenior believes that Dejan Kulusevski is a natural number ten and even asserted that the Tottenham man can become as good as Manchester City star Kevin de Bryune.

Kulusevski can be a frustrating player to watch at times, partly because his natural ability has never been in doubt and yet, he does not influence some games as much as he should.

The Swede is very much a team man, covering more distance than almost anybody and is very difficult to play against, given his strength and the intelligent way that he uses his body.

However, for a man of his technical quality, Ange Postecoglou will perhaps want him to deliver more regularly in the final third, with his six goals and three assists this season being a paltry return for a player of his technical quality.

Kulusevski tipped for number ten success

Kulusevski has thrived as a number ten when he was used centrally by the Tottenham head coach this season and Rosenior believes that is the former Juventus man’s best position, insisting that he can become among the best in the world in that role.

The pundit told Premier League Productions (18/03/24 at 5:50 pm) about the 23-year-old: “His understanding of the game is second to none. The question you asked. What’s his best position? I think he will end up as a number ten, for me. I think his understanding of the game is second to none.

“The great players just seem to hold in areas for long periods of time and don’t neutralise their own space. He is only 23. You mentioned de Bruyne. Could he be that good? I don’t see why not.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I am starting to come around to the idea that Kulusevski would be much more effective centrally than he is on the flank. Beating his man one vs one is not the Swede’s biggest strength and he often becomes quite predictable when he is played on the right.
