Pundit thinks Arsenal player would start for Chelsea and Newcastle but not Tottenham

Darren Bent does not think Arsenal shot-stopper Aaron Ramsdale would get into the Tottenham Hotspur team ahead of Guglielmo Vicario.

Despite having a very impressive season for the Gunners last year, Ramsdale has lost his place in the starting line-up to David Raya, who they signed from Brentford on an initial loan deal, with a buy-clause that the North Londoners are expected to trigger (Fabrizio Romano).

Journalist Danny Kelly, in an interview with The View From the Lane podcast, revealed recently that several Serie A clubs were plotting moves for Vicario in the summer and were left shocked when Tottenham swooped for the goalkeeper.

Vicario established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the Serie A before joining Spurs, which is why he earned interest from big clubs like Juventus and Inter Milan (Michael Bridge – LWOS).

Tottenham struck a  £17m deal for the 27-year-old relatively unknown commodity, in terms of English football. It is fair to say that he is already proving to be a bargain.

Could Ramsdale start for Chelsea and Newcastle?

Speaking on talkSPORT, Darren Bent believes that Arsenal goalie Aaron Ramsdale can’t get in ahead of Guglielmo Vicario into the Spurs team.

“You look at Aaron Ramsdale and you look at the Premier League table. There are a lot of clubs, by the way, he could go to and play. It’s a shame.”

“I think he would play there (Chelsea). I think he would play there (Newcastle United) ahead of Pope. Nah because their goalkeeper is different class. Vicario, he is unbelievable.”

Spurs Web Opinion

It is true that Vicario has been a revelation for us. I wouldn’t swap him out for any other keeper currently. Ramsdale is talented but Vicario seems to be on a different level.

Raya starting over Ramsdale is not an issue that concerns us. Vicario is very talented. With time, he will hopefully only get better and we don’t need to think of another keeper for a long time.
