Pundit thinks Postecoglou will drop one Spurs star against Arsenal

Jay Bothroyd has said that Tottenham Hotspur will be much better going forward once Richarlison comes back into the starting lineup and Son Heung-min moves to the left.

Son has led the line impressively for much of this season when he has been asked to but there have been occasions when the South Korean’s weaknesses have been exposed.

Last Saturday’s clash at St James’ Park was one such occasion, with the 31-year-old struggling to get into the game and getting very few touches on the ball even though the away side were dominating possession.

Son was eventually withdrawn just before the hour mark by Ange Postecoglou and Football.London’s Alasdair Gold revealed that the Spurs boss was not pleased with the forward and was constantly yelling at him to show for the ball when the Tottenham defenders had possession.

Will Timo Werner be dropped against Arsenal?

Bothroyd has predicted that Timo Werner will drop to the bench when Richalrison is fully fit, insisting that Tottenham will be much better going forward as a result.

The former Wolves star told The Optus Sport Football Podcast: “I feel like, if Richarlison is back, Son will go to the left, he (Werner) will be out of the team.

“And I think they will be better going forward because then you’ve got some players that you can play link-up play with, that you can work with.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Having a centre-forward who can hold up the ball and receive possession with his back to goal does make a difference when you come up against teams who are defending at the edge of their own box. However, against an opponent like Arsenal, I feel Son will have plenty of joy in the number nine role.
