Pundit tips five PL rivals to show interest in signing ex-Spurs star this summer

Former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson has suggested Manchester United will be one of a host of Premier League clubs to hold an interest in Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric come the summer.

The Croatia international has been with Los Blancos since 2012, but could be on his way out of the Bernabeu at the end of the season.

Modric, 36, has just over six months remaining on his current contract, with reports claiming he is looking to secure a fresh two-year deal which Real Madrid are struggling to agree to.

It has also been claimed that the 2018 Ballon d’Or winner would consider a move back to the Premier League where he enjoyed a positive four-year spell at Tottenham.

Robinson feels a move back to England’s top division for the midfielder is definitely on the cards if a new deal is not agreed soon, and has tipped Manchester United to be a leading side to gain his signature.

Speaking to Football Insider, he said: “I think any of the top six clubs would be interested in signing Luka Modric, including Man United.

“There will be no shortage of takers for him if he wants to come back to the Premier League.

“Regardless of what system a team plays, Modric would fit it. He can play across a three, in a four or in behind a striker. We all know the immense talent of Modric.”

Modric, despite his age, has proved time and again that he can continue to do it at the top level and is one of those exceptions. He is such a classy player and definitely has a couple more years in a top European league so it wouldn’t be surprising to see top sides interested in him.
