Ex-player urges Spurs star to quit the club and take his career to the next level

ESPN FC pundit, Alejandro Moreno, has urged Harry Kane to quit Tottenham this summer for the sake of his own career.

There has been a lot of speculation regarding Kane’s future over the last few weeks, with the 26-year-old said to be attracting interest from Manchester United (Evening Standard), Juventus (Tuttosport), and Real Madrid (Diario Madridista).

The Daily Star insists that Spurs remain confident of holding onto the England captain as they feel that no club can meet their valuation of the striker.

However, the man himself admitted recently that he will not hesitate to leave if the club isn’t moving in the right direction (Instagram live interview with Sky Sports’ Jamie Redknapp – as quoted by Daily Mail).

Moreno has insisted that the Lilywhites are not capable of fulfilling the striker’s ambitions.

He told ESPN FC: “Now, Spurs would love for him to stay. Dele Alli, Heung-min Son, Lucas Moura – all these guys would love for Harry Kane to stay.

“I’m going to take this from the angle of what I would do if I was Harry Kane.

“I would look at [the Spurs squad] and say to myself: ‘This is the best we have to offer? This is what we’ve got?

“How are we going to compete regularly with Liverpool, with Manchester City, with whatever Manchester United does, with whatever Chelsea does? How are we going to compete? We are nowhere in the picture. The picture of the top teams is here and we’re over here hanging out completely off the picture’.

“So if I’m Harry Kane I’m thinking ‘Do you know what? This was supposed to be my club, in my heart’ – you’ve got to stop making emotional decisions when it comes to business.

“You have to make a pragmatic decision and what’s best for you and your career.

“Take your profile to where it belongs Harry Kane, to a worldwide importance, not the local importance of Spurs. Go on, son.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I don’t think there is any danger of Kane leaving this summer, but if we don’t show signs of improvement next season, I worry that he might put in a transfer request next summer. The club has to convince him that he can win trophies here by showing more ambition in the transfer window.
