Pundit urges Spurs to ‘give Conte everything’ to sign player just like 21-year-old

Paddy Kenny has urged Tottenham to back Antonio Conte after seeing the early success of January signing Dejan Kulusevski.

Kulusevski, who joined Spurs on loan from Juventus on transfer deadline day, has hit the ground running in North London so far.

He notched his first goal in the win over Manchester City before netting again in his side’s 4-0 thrashing of Leeds United a week later.

The Sweden international was brimming with confidence against the Whites at Elland Road cementing himself a spot on the right of Spurs talisman Harry Kane while Lucas Moura was out injured.

As such, former Premier League goalkeeper Kenny believes Tottenham should allow Conte to make more signings of Kulusevski’s ilk going forward.

Kenny told Football Insider: “This is all Conte, he knows what he’s doing. He has proved that so many times and it looks like he’s got himself another good one here.

“Scoring against Man City and Leeds is a great start to your Tottenham career. They were big goals as well so it looks like a great signing for Tottenham.

“The key is to let Conte do this more often. Give him everything he needs to sign another Kulusevski. Trust him and back him, that’s all Tottenham need to do and they barely did it in January.

“Hopefully Kulusevski keeps performing and Tottenham realise what Conte is worth.”

Kulusevski’s loan at Spurs, which runs for 18 months, can be made a permanent transfer for a total of £37.5 million if specific sporting achievements are met (Sky Sports).

It is a rarity that new signings hit the ground running for Tottenham and Kulusevski has been a pleasant surprise in that respect. He also has plenty of room to grow too and if he does prove to be a success long-term, the club should definitely explore these types of moves in the future.
