Pundit urges Spurs to quickly move for two targets amidst Kane rumours

Kevin Phillips has claimed it is time for Tottenham Hotspur to accept that Harry Kane is leaving and move quickly to secure adequate replacements.

With the start of the season just a few days away, there is still a lot of uncertainty surrounding Kane’s future.

The striker is currently self-isolating at Hotspur Way and is expected to be integrated into group training on Thursday.

There were some murmurs on Wednesday from Kane’s camp that a new contract is not completely out of the question but Manchester City are reportedly confident of striking a deal for the England captain before the transfer window shuts at the end of the month.

Spurs have been linked with moves for Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez and Fiorentina’s Dusan Vlahovic in recent days and Phillips believes the North Londoners should accelerate moves for the pair.

The former Sunderland striker also insisted Kane’s departure from Tottenham is inevitable.

The pundit told Football Insider: “They have to step up their interest in the likes of Martinez and Vlahovic, it is as simple as that. The Tottenham fans will demand it.

“Pretty much everyone accepts that Harry Kane is going to leave so you need to bring a recognised striker in if you want to challenge for a European spot.

“Danny Ings has gone and he would have been a great option for them. There’s less than a week to the Man City game so that would be a big concern for me.

“Kane will not be playing so they really need to push the boat out to get someone in this week or next at the latest.

“They must have a backup plan because this Kane situation has been rumbling on for a while now.”

Spurs Web Opinion

It is safe to assume that Paratici is working behind the scenes to secure Kane’s replacements if Tottenham have decided to let the striker go.

My hunch is that we will get our signings in over the next couple of weeks before Kane’s departure is confirmed in the final week of the window.
