Pundit urges Spurs to replace Kulusevski in starting XI with PL attacker

Gabby Agbonlahor has urged Tottenham to snap up Wilfried Zaha, with the pundit suggesting that the Crystal Palace star would walk into the Lilywhites starting eleven.

The Athletic revealed after the summer transfer window slammed shut that Tottenham explored a late move for Zaha in the final hours. However, it was explained that the Lilywhites were unable to push through a deal for the 29-year-old before the deadline.

Zaha has made a bright start to the season, with six goal contributions in nine Premier League matches so far, and the winger’s current deal at Selhurst Park runs out next summer (Transfermarkt).

Agbonlahor believes the 29-year-old would be a good acquisition for Spurs and that the Ivorian would start for Antonio Conte’s men ahead of both Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski.

The former Aston Villa striker also claimed that Zaha is ready to move on from Palace and had informed him of his desire to join a bigger club as far back as three or four years ago.

Agbonlahor told talkSPORT about the winger: “He starts at Spurs, I’d have Zaha over Kulusevski. I’d have Son, Kane and Zaha.

“Crystal Palace are a good team and Zaha is doing it in that team and sometimes it might be harder, but put Richarlison in Crystal Palace’s side, will he have the impact that Zaha has had? I don’t think so.

“If he goes to a bigger club he’ll have more space and he’ll do well. I think he’ll want to leave. I remember speaking to him three or four years ago and he was frustrated at not getting a move.

“Do you want to stay with Palace and hope that they invest, or do you want go to Arsenal or Spurs where they’ll give you the top wages and you’ll play in the Champions League. You can’t turn it down.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Zaha is at his best on the left and I do not think he will start over Kulusevski on the right. However, Spurs will likely be in the market for an attacker next summer, with Lucas Moura potentially on his way out.

An opportunity to sign Zaha on a free transfer would certainly be tempting for the North Londoners if the 29-year-old does not sign a new deal at Selhurst Park.
