Pundit wants to ask Postecoglou when Spurs fringe player will get some minutes

Former Romanian striker Florin Raducioiu has said that it will not be easy for Radu Dragusin to break into the Tottenham team, remarking that the 22-year-old knew exactly what to expect when he decided to join the North London club.

Dragusin is still waiting for his first start for Tottenham, almost two months on from his £26.7m switch from Genoa in January.

With Spurs only having one game a week, it looks unlikely that the new signing is going to get his chance anytime soon, given how well Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven are playing.

The pair delivered another outstanding display in Tottenham’s 3-1 win over Crystal Palace on Tuesday, with the Argentine even getting on the scoresheet.

Some Romanian outlets have questioned over recent weeks if Dragusin will be lacking some match sharpness heading into the Euros in the summer if he continues to struggle for game time at N17 (Pro Sport).

When will Radu Dragusin start for Spurs?

However, Raducioiu pointed out that the situation was entirely foreseeable and even offered to fly to London to ask Ange Postecoglou about Dragusin’s chances of getting game time.

The 53-year-old told Prima Sport (as translated by Sport Witness): “In the case of Radu Drăguşin, it is totally different. He knew very well where he was going. Great attention, because these two players, in this system that the Tottenham coach plays, are two fantastic players.

“Even Romero scored. He is an extraordinary player, a player so strong, so fast and so precise in his passes. It won’t be easy for Radu Draguşin, because, I repeat, he has two fantastic players in front of him. I don’t know what will happen, but it’s hard to believe he’ll play.

“We might as well send one of our colleagues to a press conference if you want me to go. I’ll ask the coach, next game in London and I’ll ask him: ‘I’m Florin Răducioiu, not a journalist, I represent Prima Sport, with regard to my countryman, whom I hold in high esteem, when do you think our player can play, in view of the European Championship that awaits us?’ and let’s see what he says.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Dragusin has not been helped by the fact that Tottenham only have the Premier League to concentrate on.

Postecoglou cannot afford to drop either Van de Ven or Romero as the former’s recovery pace is crucial to Spurs’ system while the latter is the leader of the backline.

So unless there is an injury to one of the two, the Romanian might not make a single start for the rest of the season.
