It looks like being a quiet January window for Spurs

Harry Redknapp - Tottenham Hotspur News

Harry Redknapp has once again claimed that Tottenham will not be looking to buy any players during the January transfer window.

We all know that old ‘arry has said this in previous windows and then gone out and bagged the likes of Rafael van der Vaart at a minute to midnight.  However, something feels different – I really do believe that Harry is telling the truth this time.  January is always a time where clubs demand over-inflated fees for mediocre players and our squad is now at a level where we can handle a few injuries.

However, saying that.  If we are to lose the likes of Ledley King, Scott Parker or Emmanuel Adebayor to the physio room then we could be in trouble.

Redknapp is only in the market for players who can make a big difference to his squad, and these kind of players are rarely available in January since they’re still involved in a Champions League campaign nine times out of ten.

“As it stands, I’m not looking to bring anyone into the club in January,” he said.

“I was initially concerned about injuries to some of our defenders, which left us light on the ground. But with William Gallas and Ledley King returning, those concerns have subsided.

“To be honest, we have a very strong squad, one of the best in the Premier League, so I wouldn’t know where to bring in players that would improve us, as we are pretty strong all over the pitch.

“There is absolutely no point in going out and signing players if they can’t improve the team. And, as it is, I have enough strength in depth in my squad.”
