‘Quite the reverse’ – PSG chief gives his opinion on Mauricio Pochettino’s future

PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has indicated that he is of the opinion that 10Mauricio Pochettino’s future lies in the French capital.

Pochettino has been heavily linked with a return to former club Tottenham Hotspur, who are still seeking a replacement for Jose Mourinho who was sacked on April 19th.

The Argentine was reported to be keen on a move back to North London with Goal claiming late last month that the 49-year-old had told officials at the Ligue 1 giants that he wanted to leave, but would respect their decision if they insisted that he remained at the club.

Al-Khelaifi has claimed that Pochettino has at no stage told him that he would like to quit and has not displayed a demeanour which suggested that he is not committed to the project on the continent having met with him on two separate occasions.

The former Spurs man is instead on daily contact with sporting director Leonardo to discuss transfer-related matters ahead of the new campaign.

He told L’Equipe: “At the end of the season, I met with Mauricio twice and both for two to three hours each,”

“He never told me that he wanted to leave. He never had an attitude that suggested he wanted out. Quite the reverse. Mauricio was totally involved on all topics, and he speaks almost every single day with Leonardo about the transfer window and players.”
