Radio station claims Tottenham have completed deal for player

talkSPORT have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur have wrapped up a deal for Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Matt Doherty.

The radio station took to Twitter to claim that breaking news had emerged where they have understood the Republic of Ireland international has completed the move to North London.

The 28-year-old made 50 appearances for Wolves last season and lost out on Europa League qualification to Tottenham on the final day of the Premier League season.

Jose Mourinho currently only has one experienced right-back in his squad after the club decided not to replace Kieran Trippier last summer following his move to Atletico Madrid and the sale of Kyle Walker-Peters to Southampton has caused a further shortage.

Doherty has played for Wolves in League One, the Championship and the Premier League – and been the top-flight’s second-most creative defender over the past couple of seasons, behind Trent Alexander-Arnold of Liverpool (Irish Mirror).

He will become the club’s third signing of the summer following the arrival of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Joe Hart.
