Radu Dragusin reveals what impressed him most in first Spurs training session

Radu Drasgusin has said that he believes he made the right decision to join Tottenham Hotspur in January, revealing that his teammates and staff have helped him settle into the club quite quickly.

Dragusin has had to wait patiently to get his first start for the Lilywhites, with Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero being in exceptional form.

The 22-year-old finally got his first start against Fulham on Saturday after Van de Ven picked up an injury, but it was not an outing to remember for the Romanian, who struggled to cope with the Cottagers’ counter-attacks, with Ange Postecoglou’s men falling to a 3-0 loss.

Radu Dragusin is enjoying life at Tottenham

Even though things might not have gone to plan over the weekend, Dragusin insisted that his first couple of months in North London have been positive.

He told Sport: “I’ve settled in very well at Tottenham. They welcomed me with incredible warmth. The people there are very professional. They always try to get you settled in as quickly as possible.”

Dragusin admitted that he did not take long to make the decision when Spurs came calling in January, having always wanted to play in the Premier League.

He continued: “Football in England has always been a goal for me. I like the style of play, the intensity, the speed. When the offers came, that’s where I wanted to go.”

The centre-back confessed that the intensity and physicality of training at Hotspur Way is much higher than what he has been used to in Italy.

The former Genoa man added: “I was definitely impressed by the intensity of the training first and foremost. The strength that the guys have there. Their physical development and quality.”

Spurs Web Opinion

It is the nature of modern-day football media to jump to conclusions about players, which is why I am not surprised by the criticism that Dragusin has been receiving over the last few days.

However, one only has to look at how Pedro Porro struggled in his first few games in England and his trajectory since to realise what is possible for the Romanian.
