Rafael Van der Vaart makes joke at Gareth Bale’s expense on social media

Former Tottenham Hotspur attacker, Rafael Van der Vaart, took to Twitter this week in order to poke fun at his old teammate, Gareth Bale.

The Dutch legend commented on a graphic containing goalscoring stats about himself and Bale during their time with the Lilywhites.

The stats claimed that, during their time playing together, Bale and Van der Vaart had a combined 52 goals and 46 assists in 75 games.

Van der Vaart claimed that most of these contributions came from him, while claiming tongue in cheek that his own pace complimented Bale’s style of play.

Rafa joined Tottenham in 2010 and went on to rack up 77 appearances for the Lilywhites, as well as scoring 28 goals (Wikipedia) before moving to Hamburg.

Meanwhile, Gareth Bale played 203 games and scored 55 goals for Tottenham across six senior seasons before securing a world-record move to Real Madrid, Van der Vaart’s old club (Wikipedia).

Spurs Web Opinion:

These two together were electric. The combination of Crouch, Defoe, Bale, Van der Vaart, Modric, and Lennon was enough to carve open any team in Europe across those two seasons.
