Ramon Vega claims two Spurs men should never play together again

Ramon Vega has argued that Tottenham were lucky to come away with all three points from the Vitality Stadium on Sunday.

Antonio Conte deiced to rotate his squad, which was not too surprising given the big Champions League clash that the Lilywhites have coming up against Marseille on Tuesday night.

A makeshift back three of Davinson Sanchez, Clement Lenglet and Ben Davies started for Spurs, and they struggled to cope with the physicality of Dominic Solanke and Kieffer Moore, who won most duels in the first half.

Things looked extremely bleak for the North Londoners when Moore put the home side 2-0 up in the 50th minute but Conte’s men responded brilliantly and produced a memorable comeback, which was completed when substitute Rodrigo Bentancur scored a stoppage-time winner.

Vega believes that Spurs were lucky to win the match and praised Conte for making substitutions earlier than he usually does. However, the 51-year-old insisted that the Italian should never start Emerson Royal and Davinson Sanchez together again.

Here’s what the former Spurs defender tweeted following the 3-2 win:

I do not think there was anything ‘lucky’ about that win at all. I expected the players’ heads to drop once we went 2-0 down, particularly given that we had lost our previous two Premier League matches.

However, they showed tremendous character and it was evident that all of them always believed that they could win. The three points were well deserved, given the amount of pressure we put the Cherries’ backline under in the second half.
