Ramon Vega launches foul-mouthed reaction to VAR incident at Tottenham

Former Tottenham Hotspur defender Ramon Vega could not hide his frustration on Twitter after watching his former side robbed of two points against Newcastle United.

Two minutes into injury time, Jonjo Shelvey floated a free-kick into the penalty which was knocked down by Andy Carroll and the ball made contact with Eric Dier’s arm after the Spurs defender attempted to challenge the Magpies striker in the air and was oblivious to the ball making contact with his arm.

VAR flagged the incident to referee Peter Bankes and the official decided to review the video footage on the pitchside monitor and pointed to the penalty spot.

Callum Wilson stepped up and managed to squeeze the ball into the bottom right corner despite the Frenchman managing to get a hand to it.

Vega certainly did not hold back with his condemnation of the decision whilst also voicing his distaste of the introduction of video technology.
