Rangers coach reacts to Spurs youngster’s senior debut

There was a lot for Tottenham fans to be pleased about following the club’s midweek demolition of Wolfsberger.

It was not just the dominant nature of the performance and the goals for Dele Alli and Gareth Bale that were positives but also the fact that two Spurs academy starlets in Marcel Lavinier and Nile John were given their senior debuts for the club.

Lavinier got over twenty minutes under his belt after coming on for Matt Doherty and slotted seamlessly into the Spurs backline.

The 20-year-old was praised by Jose Mourinho after the game, with the Spurs boss tipping the youngster for a big future.

It was an indication of the considerable progress the right-back has made since joining the Spurs academy from Chelsea just last summer.

Michael Beale, who worked with the youngster during his time with the Blues’ academy, congratulated him on the significant milestone.

Beale, who now serves as the first-team coach under Steven Gerrard at Rangers took to social media to send Lavinier a message.
