Rate the Players: Tottenham Hotspur 2-4 Barcelona

Tottenham Hotspur put in a spirited second half performance against a quality Barcelona side but it was, unfortunately, a goal too far.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side were always chasing the game after a horrible decision from the returning Hugo Lloris gifted the away team the lead. The Spurs captain made the wrong decision to try and come for the ball in the opening couple of minutes and was left stranded. Philippe Coutinho with an open goal at his beckoning took full advantage.

After going in at the half time break two-nil down, there was certainly an improved effort from Pochettino’s players in the second half. Harry Kane made it 1-2, before Lionel Messi fired back moments later, the world’s best player added a fourth to kill the game on the 89th minute.

Erik Lamela, who absolutely ran his socks off pulled one back to make it, but we just couldn’t find a third.
