RB Leipzig troll Spurs after Timo Werner joins London rivals Chelsea

RB Leipzig have trolled Tottenham Hotspur on social media after Timo Werner completed a move to Chelsea.

After more than a week of heavy speculation, the Blues confirmed that they secured the striker’s signature in a transfer worth around £47.6m.

The signing could potentially prove a major coup for the Blues with the German international establishing a reputation as one of the most lethal forwards in the Bundesliga recent seasons.

Jose Mourinho admitted in the press conference ahead of yesterday’s game against Manchester United that he does not expect Tottenham make similar big-money moves this summer and instead expects the club to have a more balanced approach (Football.London).

Werner got on the scoresheet against Spurs earlier this season when the Lilywhites fell to a 1-0 defeat to Leipzig in the Champions League knockout stages at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (4-0 on aggregate).

After the striker completed his transfer, the Bundesliga side decided to remind Spurs fans and Chelsea fans of the penalty that the 24-year-old converted against Tottenham back in February.

As much as I hate to admit it, Werner is potentially a fantastic signing for Chelsea and one who is likely to take them to another level. Based on the acquisitions the Blues have made recently, it does look like they are positioning themselves as the side that is best placed to challenge Man City and Liverpool next season.
