‘Ready to go’ – Spurs star insists he’s fully fit ahead of new season

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Steven Bergwijn has insisted that he is feeling one hundred per cent fit ahead of the new season.

The Dutch international made the move to North London from PSV Eindhoven in January for £27million and made an immediate impact after scoring the winner against Manchester City on his debut in front of the 17,500 capacity seater south stand (BBC).

Bergwijn experienced a tough end to the campaign after picking up an ankle injury in the 1-1 draw at Burnley in March which looked set to end his season before the coronavirus pandemic hit (Football.London).

The 22-year-old was named on the bench for yesterday’s pre-season friendly against Birmingham City and came on at half time.

When it looked as if the Championship outfit would leave North London with a respectable 0-0 draw, Bergwijn picked up the ball and fired a powerful effort into the bottom corner to maintain the club’s unbeaten start to pre-season.

With the Premier League opener against Everton taking place on September 13th, Bergwijn already has his sights on Champions League qualification
