Real Betis look to poach £25m Tottenham star

The Sun have reported that Real Betis are considering a bid for Tottenham star Lucas Moura, after the winger has spent only 6 months at the club.

After Spurs failed to sign any fresh faces in the summer, Lucas is actually one of the relative Spurs new boys, so it is unclear whether the Premier League outfit will be willing to give up on his just yet.

Signed for £25 in January from French giants PSG, Moura has only managed 11 appearances and one goal in a Spurs shirt.

Many believe that Pochettino wanted to use the tail end of last season to bed the Brazilian into the squad, after he had gone some time without regular football in the French capital.

Now, with the new season just beginning, Pochettino has already handed Moura a Premier League start in the opening day victory against Newcastle.

Lucas failed to impress through the game, but did show glimpses of what he could bring to the side, so it could be a case giving him enough game time.

With a whole pre-season under his belt, Moura will be looking to recreate his PSG form where he scored 34 goals in just over 150 appearances.

The French champions actually bought Moura for £38m back in 2012, so Tottenham picking him up for only £25m at the age of 26 looked like an absolute steal in January.

Do you think that Moura will make it at Spurs?

Real Betis’ Vice Chairman, Lorenzo Serra Ferrer, told el Desmarque: “They [Lucas Moura and Joao Mario] are two great footballers and if we have possibilities we would like to have them.

“But we have to be realistic and know what we can do. We try to distribute the economic potential well in order to try to reinforce and improve the workforce.

“We have made six additions, replacing players that last year performed very well, with a brilliant goal, and we think we have improved.

“It will be difficult to match what we did last year.”
