Tottenham Hotspur have been chasing the Real Betis attacking midfielder, Giovani Lo Celso, for some time now, with the BBC reporting a £53m bid back at the start of the transfer window.

This would have been a record club transfer for Spurs at the time, before they signed Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon further down the line.

However, the Spanish league outfit decided to turn down Tottenham’s offer as they believed it was too far away from their £88m buyout clause.

The Mirror reported last week that Tottenham were to secure the signature of Lo Celso within the next seven days, along with Ryan Sessegnon, for a combined £80m fee.

However, no deal has been reached as of yet, and El Desmarque have now claimed that Betis are far from happy with Tottenham’s transfer techniques.

They reportedly believe that Spurs are exploiting Betis’ need to sell and the tight Premier League window deadline to get a better deal.

The report states that they think that Levy is trying to ‘squeeze Betis’ with a €50m offer this summer.

  1. Shock / Horror. Spurs trying to get a player for something below the over inflated price that his current club have arbitrarily placed on him. Let’s have a headline that instead highlights Daniel Levy’s refusal to be hoodwinked and ripped off by Betis simply because they think we are made of money.

  2. OR Betis are overvaluing their player. The whole transfer market is just a meat market nowadays with pretty much every player over-valued. I really think that maybe the transfer window crap has to be rethought. Maybe a window of 2 months before the season where players cannot be transferred instead of the current 2 window system where many clubs (including Spurs with LML (Last Minute Levy)) play games right up the transfer window closing.

  3. To deal with Levy is like pulling teeth!!! He must think us spurs boys will be happy hearing he offers 40 mill for 80 mill valued players or 35 mill for 65 mill valuations ans later says we tried to get them. NO YOU DIDNT!!!!!!!!you made a fool of yourself as you do every window, Again we are so near competing but I’ve no doubt you will let us down YET AGAIN !!!

  4. What a load of horse shit. They quote a price, Levy comes back with his offer it’s as simple as that. Betis has to give a portion of the fee to PSG now that’s not Levy’s fault. When Levy bought the clubs number one target Tanguy Ndembele, smashing the clubs record in the process, I bet the little snivelling pussies among us were lost for words. Now he’s gone back to being bargain basement last minute king by some. I say to those pricks, fucking grow up.

  5. Just pay the damn price before someone else get him. Offer £60 million. The guy’s worth it and we’d be screwed if it ends up going to Man Utd, Liverpool or Arsenal when we had the chance.
