Real Madrid interested in signing Tottenham and Barca target

Reports suggest that Real Madrid have now entered the race to sign Dutch wonderkid Frenkie De Jong.

The Ajax youngster is hot property, and has been a long term target for both Tottenham and Barcelona.

However, rumours have it that de Jong is keen to sign for the current Champions League holders, Madrid.

Ajax reportedly turned down a £45m offer from Spurs in the summer, as they are determined to hold onto their prized asset beyond January.

Real Madrid may be on the hunt for a new centre mid, as Kovacic may join Chelsea on a permanent deal after his loan spell, as well as Luka Modric apparently wanting to move away from the Spanish giant.

All of this transfer gossip doesn’t make good reading for Spurs, who are unlikely able to match any high offers from the two heavyweights, Barca and Real.

De Jong claimed last month that he was happy at Ajax, after they qualified for the Champions League group stage.

“Maybe someday I’ll join Barcelona, but not this season,” he said.

“I have already played a binding match for Ajax.

“I’m staying at Ajax.

“I think it will be a good year.”

What do you think Tottenham fans… worth a £50m punt, or should your club look elsewhere?
