Real Madrid prepared to pay £71m for Spurs target

Reports out of the Netherlands today suggest that Real Madrid are willing to outspend the likes of Barcelona, Man United and Tottenham to land the signature of wonder kid Frenkie de Jong.

De Telegraaf claim that the Spanish giants are willing to shell out a whopping £71m for the Ajax youngster.

Spurs reportedly had a £45m bid for the 21-year-old turned down in the summer, according to the Daily Mail.

Spurs have a strong history of buying from Ajax, with current crop Jan Vertonghen, Christian Eriksen, and record signing Davinson Sanchez all coming from the Dutch giant.

De Jong is one of the most promising midfield talents in the world right now, which is why Football London claim that some of the biggest European clubs from major leagues are fighting it out for his signature.

With Daniel Levy often keeping his money close to his chest, favouring the bargain buy over the sensational big name transfer, it is unlikely that Tottenham will rival such prices from Madrid.

However, surely Pochettino will be looking to strengthen his side come January, after their poor run of form in all competitions.
