‘Really worrying’ – Journalist makes £100m claim about out-of-favour Spurs star

Sky Sports journalist Michael Bridge has admitted it is worrying for Tottenham just how much Dele Alli’s valuation has dropped over the last few years.

Alli has made only one start since Antonio Conte arrived at Spurs and the midfielder faces an uphill battle to force himself into the team, with the Tottenham head coach seeming to have settled on his first-choice eleven.

The Telegraph have claimed that Conte has given the green light for the club to move on the former MK Dons man when the transfer window reopens in January.

It was explained that while Daniel Levy would prefer a transfer fee for the 25-year-old, the Spurs chairman could sanction a loan deal for Alli with an option or obligation to buy at the end of the season.

Bridge believes Tottenham would only be able to make £25m on Alli’s sale in January, insisting that the midfielder was worth over £100m a few years ago.

The journalist told GiveMeSport: “Well, a few years ago, when he was double Young Player of the Year, you’re thinking he’s worth over £100m.

“Now, someone asked me the other day, what is he worth or what would Spurs sell him for, £25m, £30m? That is really worrying.”

I believe £25m to £30m would be a fair valuation for Dele given how far he has fallen off over the last couple of years.

I believe there will be several midtable Premier League clubs who would be willing to pay that amount.

That kind of fee will prove a bargain for Dele’s next club even if they can get him back to being even half as good as he was from 2015 to 2018.
