Niko Kranjcar was pleased with his performance on his full debut for Tottenham Hotspur in the 5-0 win against Burnley.

The midfielder, a recent signing from Portsmouth put in an impressive display against the Premier League newcomers to stake a place in the starting line-up for the trip to Bolton Wanderers this weekend.

“I actually played my first Premier League match for Portsmouth at White Hart Lane as well, so it looks like it’s meant to be,” he told the official Spurs site.

“It was great for us that we got the three points and won 5-0, we dominated the game and came back after two defeats in the Premier League.

“Once we got the ball moving quickly, especially in midfield and in the last third, we showed different class and we could have scored more in the first half.

“We didn’t start the second half as well as we wanted to but once we scored the third goal it was all over.

“It was very important to get the win to get the confidence back not just for us, but for the fans as well.

“We believe in those the games against United and Chelsea that there were occasions where he might have scored an earlier goal and maybe we might have gone on to win one of those games.

“It didn’t happen though but those games proved we can compete with any team in the league and we have to keep pushing.”

Should Kranjcar start for Spurs at Bolton this weekend?
