“Redemption season” – Some Spurs fans make prediction about midfielder

Erik Lamela has spent six seasons at Tottenham Hotspur after his move from Roma in the summer of 2013 but as he admitted himself an interview to the club’s official website recently, he has lost at least two seasons due to injury.

The silky left-footer signed a new deal with the club over last summer that will take him till 2022.

Despite his injury troubles, the Argentine has always been a key member of Pochettino’s line ups. As he approaches his seventh season with the club, some Spurs fans are hoping that the 27-year-old will finally have a shot at redemption.

Lamela started for Tottenham in their first preseason friendly against Juventus and got on the score sheet to put Spurs ahead in the first half. The midfielder put in a typically industrious performance and was at the heart of a lot of Spurs’ best moves in the half.

His performance led some Spurs fans on social media to suggest that he could be a key member of the side next season.

It has always been clear that Lamela has had talent in abundance but it is his injury troubles that have been the problem. If he can stay fit through the season (a big ‘if’ based on past evidence) then there is no doubt he has a lot to offer.
