Redknapp believes attacker targeted by Spurs has ‘star quality’

Former Tottenham midfielder Jamie Redknapp has raved about Queens Park Rangers forward Eberechi Eze, who is said to be on Spurs’ radar. The Lilywhites have been linked with a move for Eze during the past few months (Sun).

The 21-year-old broke into the QPR side back in 2017 and is now a key first-team star in the Championship for the club.

The young attacker has managed twelve goals and eight assists so far this season (transfermarkt).

His performances this season have reportedly also caught the eye of Sheffield United and Southampton, who are both expected to contest Spurs for his signature in the summer.

The QPR Director of Football, Les Ferdinand, has already admitted that it will be hard for the Championship club to hold onto their star man in the long-term (Football London).

Redknapp believes the young attacker is destined for a future right at the very top.

In his column in the Daily Mail, the former Spurs star wrote: “Watch out for Eberechi Eze, QPR’s 21-year-old attacking midfielder.

“The Championship club have done a tremendous job of nurturing him, and I suspect we’ll see him in the Premier League sooner rather than later.

“From what I hear, he has plenty of admirers already. Rightly so, too, because Eze clearly has that star quality.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Like Jarrod Bowen this season and the likes of Jack Grealish and James Maddison before him, Eze is someone whose value is likely to go up substantially in the next few seasons. I believe we will come to regret it if we do not sign him this summer as he is bound to hit the ground running in the Premier League no matter who he signs for.
