Harry Redknapp has reportedly confirmed making contact with the agent of Chelsea and England midfielder, Joe Cole.

Cole is available on a free transfer at the end of the month after Chelsea confirmed they would not be offering him a new contract at Stamford Bridge.

Redknapp has previously stated his interest in his former protege, but was unsure if he would be able to bring him to White Hart Lane.

He was under the belief that Manchester United had wrapped up a deal for Cole, but the Trafford-based side have ruled out any deal for him.

But now Redknapp has confirmed in his Sun column that he has stepped up his efforts to land Cole.

“We’ve declared our interest in Joe to his agent, but that is as far as it has gone.

“We are told Joe doesn’t want to talk to anyone about any move until after the World Cup is over.”

Arsenal still remain favourites to capture Cole’s signiture, whilst his former club West Ham have also expressed an interest.

  1. if we sign him i can only assume he would probably be the highest paid player on the team (from what i hear his wage demands are) but honestly where in the team are we gonna play him? its not worth paying those wages for someone coming off the bench, and i dont see any free spots in the starting lineup

  2. I would play him in a 4-5-1, or 4-4-2. Ideally Palacios and Hudd in front of the back two, with Cole on the left, Moddle in the middle, and Lennon on the right. Defoe/Pav up front. Or simply remove one of the holding midfieders, and play the other four in the middle of the park with Pav and Defoe up front. For those of you wondering where Bale is, I would have him at LB coming from deep, allowing Cole to cut in and Bale overlap.
