Redknapp eyes Champions League top spot

Harry Redknapp

Harry Redknapp wants Tottenham to go into the Champions League draw as group winners.

Spurs booked their place in the last 16 with a 3-0 win against Werder Bremen on Wednesday night.

Redknapp said: “It is fantastic for us to get through, that was a difficult group when it was drawn although it didn’t look it tonight. I think they lost a little bit of heart.

“Overall I think we’ve done very well.

“We want to win it [the group], you want that top spot if you can get it.

“It looks as though most big teams will finish top of their group so it’s important if you can finish top.”

Redknapp said of the forthcoming game against Twente in early December: “They are a good home side but we are looking forward to it, it’s nice to go there and give it a go without too much pressure.

“You don’t want to go there needing a result to qualify.”
