Redknapp praises ‘unplayable’ Defoe

Harry Redknapp was delighted with Jermain Defoe’s hat-trick performance in Tottenham’s 5-1 demolition of Hull City.

The emphatic victory, courtesy of a Jermain Defoe hat-track and one apiece from Robbie Keane and Wilson Palacios means that Tottenham have won both of their opening Premier League fixtures and currently sit on top of the table for the first time in four years.

“The way we played, the way we moved the ball, passed the ball, was top-draw,” Redknapp told Sky Sports.

“I saw them (Hull) on Saturday at Chelsea (and) I thought they were terrific. They worked Chelsea all the way and got beaten in the last minute, so it’s not an easy place to come.

“They always give you a difficult game, in my opinion, but tonight we were very difficult to live with.”

“Well he’s just looked unplayable, he’s been like that in every game,” Redknapp added.

“He just looks so sharp, he’s looked stronger than he has in the past. I’ve known him since he was 14-15 and this is the strongest I’ve seen him look.

“He’s done a lot of work at the end of last season and pre-season and he looks powerful, he’s holding the ball better when it gets played up to his feet.

“You can’t knock him off the ball, he looks quicker and he’s just got what he’s always had; that ability to finish, he’s just a marvellous finisher and at the moment he looks, without a doubt, in my opinion as good as any striker around, he’s absolutely on fire.”
