Redknapp hopes Spurs avoid Barcelona

Harry Redknapp is hoping that Tottenham can avoid Barcelona in the next round of the Champions League.

Spurs currently lead Group A on goal difference from holders Inter Milan and finishing top of the group – – then we will not meet in the next round as any winner can only be drawn against a runner-up in the last 16.

“I think anyone wants to avoid them!” said Redknapp of the 2009 European champions.

“It was just amazing; it was as good as I have ever seen. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a better performance.

“It just goes to show you don’t need big power.

“Any little lads out there who are growing up, don’t ever be told you’re too small to play the game, because it’s about ability, this game.

“Look at Barcelona with their players: (Andres) Iniesta, Xavi (Hernandez) – just incredible – (Lionel) Messi. Tiny little lads with fantastic ability.

“So, when you’ve got that ability and you can play and pass the ball, that’s the way to play the game.

“Any little kids who watch and get told they’re too small, watch that video and you’ll see you’re never too small.

“It’s not about size; it’s about ability and wanting to play.”
