Redknapp makes Premier League title prediction – Spurs fans won’t be happy

Jamie Redknapp has controversially stated that there will be a new Premier League champion this year. Redknapp believes that Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool will be the team to finally dethrone Manchester City after two years of dominance.

Spurs fans will be unhappy after Redknapp predicted that they will not be serious contenders for the title this season. This is despite breaking their transfer record to sign Tanguy N’Dombele earlier in the season.

Redknapp believes that (Daily Mail Premier League Fixtures Guide- Page 3 – Aug 3, 2019): ‘After missing out on the Premier League by a single point to Manchester City, he (Jurgen Klopp) re-motivated his players and made sure they did not miss out on being crowned Champions of Europe’

‘That was Klopp’s first trophy with the club and I suspect more will follow this season, including the Premier League title.

‘Elsewhere in the Premier League, Tottenham have finally strengthened their squad but I can’t see them keeping up with Liverpool or City all season. Another top-four finish should follow for them.’

Spurs Web Opinion

Redknapp clearly has a lot of confidence in Liverpool after their Champions League win. However, he could be underestimating Spurs, who will be hungry for trophies after missing out on football’s top prize.

Spurs have been heavily linked with Sporting Lisbon star Bruno Fernandes over the last few days (Evening Standard). If they bring in Fernandes and are able to get deals for transfer targets Giovani Lo Celso and Ryan Sessegnon over the line then they could well be considered serious challengers for the title (Independent). These transfers would give them the depth that they needed last season.

You can’t blame Redknapp for predicting Manchester City and Liverpool will be the top two again after last seasons dominance. However, Spurs seem determined this season and anyone would be foolish to overlook them.
