Redknapp monitoring Pienaar situation

Harry Redknapp

Harry Redknapp has admitted that Steven Pienaar would be a ‘great free transfer’.

The Everton winger is out of contract in the summer and looks to be nowhere close to signing a new deal at Goodison Park.

Redknapp confirmed that he is keeping tabs on the 28-year-old, did not comment on whether his club would try to sign Pienaar in the January transfer window or wait until the end of the season.

“If he doesn’t sign a contract he’ll be a great free transfer for someone at the end of the year, if he doesn’t stay at Everton,” said Redknapp at his pre-match press conference.

“He still belongs to Everton, so it’s a difficult one.

“They are still trying to keep him. We’ll wait and see what happens.”

Have something to tell us about this article?

  1. struggling to see why Spurs would want him unless they are selling someone for more money than he would cost. Also struggling with the Samba rumour. Spurs already coming down with centre backs

  2. Bently and Kranj might be going and I think pienaar is an alright player so if we can get him for free dont think thers anything to complain about he would be better than Becks anyway
