Redknapp on Bellamy rumours

Harry Redknapp has distanced Tottenham from reports linking the club with a move for Craig Bellamy.

Reports in the Sunday press claim that Spurs were eyeing a cut-price £6million move for the Manchester City striker.

“I tried to sign Craig Bellamy when he was at West Ham, but we couldn’t get him. The deal was too expensive for us at Tottenham,” said Redknapp.

“I have always liked him. He’s an outstanding player and I would have loved to have signed him at the time.

“But if I start saying I am interested in Craig Bellamy, I will have Manchester City on the phone in ten minutes wanting to cause problems for us.

“He belongs to Manchester City. Until they decide they want to sell him, I couldn’t really comment on it.”
